A Weight Watchers Update

So, in mid-July I went on Weight Watchers after the Dateable Dork’s success with the program.  WTG, DD!  Here’s a mini-update from me:

I am 5’3″ and had a starting weight of 147.  I’m now at 132 and have gone from wearing a size 8 (which were tight) to wearing a size 6 (which are very loose).  I have been participating in a collaborative research study on walking for the last 6 months, and as a part of their data collection I get a physical every 3 months.  I just had my most recent one and was told that I’ve lost 4% bodyfat since June.  Without exercise.  I look so good my boyfriend now gets hard just from looking at me and has been actively encouraging me to look at engagement rings. TGIF In Honey-Land

I hope everyone has a great Friday!  Now that my three-part Revelations series is complete (check out Parts One, Two, and Three) I can give a brief update on what’s been going on lately.

First of all, I mentioned in mid-June that I was starting Weight Watchers.  I’ve lost about 14 pounds and just this week was able to start wearing my size 4 pants again.  This makes me officially skinnier than I was when Jake and I started dating.  I remember when we started dating I’d always bring my laundry over to his place (I didn’t have machines in my apartment, which was a duplex so I’d been going to a wash and fold) and he’d do it all for me… Continued

We’re Both Getting Fat!

Ah, the cliche of a great relationship: happy people are fat people. I read somewhere on a blog or website written by a guy (or maybe it was on The Real Housewives of Orange County?) that women have an obligation to remain in precisely the physical shape that they were in when they attracted the guy in the first place. No word, of course, on whether the guy has a similar obligation.

Obviously that kind of expectation is impossible, but at the same time I resent the mentality that once a couple is together they can just let themselves go and that somehow their intellectual and emotional connections will be “enough.” The BF has observed more than once that when he and his ex were getting along she gained weight and when they were fighting she’d lose it (he was in fabulous shape the whole time they dated, which I like to think must mean he was miserable the whole time), but this time the fate of most of America has caught up with both of us. While I’m flattered to think that our relationship makes him as happy as it makes me, swimsuit season is almost upon us and this is unacceptable.

(Not liking what I see, plus we bought our home scale at Good Will and it weighs 10 lbs. heavy!)
