Well, things are looking up since my last post.
Jake has decided he has too much on his plate to do a real job search at the moment, so he’s calling that off. However, given what went down with his supervisor recently, he has decided to go balls-to-the-wall in terms of his working conditions at his current place. He thinks that there is a good chance that his strategy will pay off, in which case he’d be perfectly happy continuing to be there (it is not the amount of work he does that he objects to, it is a variety of aspects of the environment). If it doesn’t work out and they fire him, then obviously he will have plenty of time to do a big search. Either outcome would be better than the status quo. Continued

So it is awesome news all around these days (sorry for neglecting you, my peeps!). First Jake and I went to Illinois to visit his grandparents for Thanksgiving and then I have been catching up because it is the busiest time of year for me at work. I hate that my busiest time is around the holidays, which are supposed to be about relaxation and fun, but what can you do? Anyway, that’s not the good news – here’s a recap of recent events:
Illinois was good. As I’ve mentioned previously, Jake and I avoid his parents and brother, but we got some QT with the grandparents, aunt, and cousin. The biggest surprise (at least for Jake, I suspected this would happen and tried to tell him but he didn’t believe me) was that the family decided to give us our Christmas gifts while we were actually there, to watch us opening them. So I totally missed the deadline for DM’s Spring Fling blogging contest – work has been crazy - how is it my problem that the day before a deadline everyone who was supposed to submit an annual review didn’t know how to combine multiple documents into a single PDF file? Sigh. However, I mentioned it was the BF’s birthday, and since a) he’s a spring chicken/Aries and I wanted you all to know how it ended up going down anyway, I thought I’d combine the two occasions into one fabulous post.
