Why I Wouldn’t Pay to Send My Kid To College

Lance and I got into a spirited debate in the comments of a recent post about whether or not parents should shoulder the costs for their children to go to college.  Now, this issue is moot for me for a couple reasons:

  1. I’m not having children, and
  2. Jake and I have $100K in student loan debt – APIECE – so between funding our retirement accounts (we got a late start on that, too, since we were already about 30) and paying off our own debts, there’s no way we could afford to send our kids to college even if we had any.

Good News Follows Good News: Or, LinkedIn Works!?

Apparently the universe is apologizing for my terrible weekend.  First, the BF was able to verify with his supervisor that a) his company isn’t going to do any layoffs, and b) even if they were, his position wouldn’t be in jeopardy.  Awesome!  So he’s going to try for a little work/life balance and we’ll see how that goes.

Side note: it’s okay for me to WORK here, directly with the students, with no proof of MMR, but when it comes to taking classes – whoa!  Somebody better make sure that girl had her shots!  Um, what? Continued

What I Want vs. What I Want

All righty, peeps – I am about to ask your advice about something which has me genuinely torn, and while it doesn’t directly affect my relationship, it certainly has all sorts of possibilities to do so.  The reason I’m torn is because I feel like there are two things I want more or less equally, and in some ways they are intertwined and in others they are in direct competition with each other.

Ready to weigh in on my life?  Here goes… Continued
