I thought that DD’s post on her year in review was a great way to review, encapsulate, and reflect on what had passed, so I decided to give it a go as well. It seems like the best way to set myself up for my New Year’s resolutions, which will be my next post. 2009 was kind of a wild ride, and I’m aiming for more stability in 2010.
January started off kind of rough, as I was battling a kidney infection, turning out not to be a great snowboarder (despite Jake’s attempts to get me to enjoy it), and financial woes (hey, what else is new, the recession was in full swing). The big highlight was the Dooney & Burke wallet that Jake’s mom got me in a failed attempt to manipulate me into getting him to make up with her. I loooove this wallet and still admire it on a practically daily basis. Continued

So, as I’ve mentioned several times, Jake is really unhappy in his job and would also like to move to another city, since he grew up here and isn’t so much a fan. I understand, as I moved to Arizona in large part to escape Florida, which I think is a humid, touristy pit of hurricanes, mosquitoes, and despair. He was going to wait until January and then start looking, since if he doesn’t include months on his resume that’ll give him the appearance of three years. Continued

No, not for me, unfortunately – but fantastic news for the BF! He bought a 2008 Dodge Avenger for $15,500 (almost $7K off the sticker price) this weekend.
Why A New Car
Currently, the BF drives a 13-year-old Jeep Grand Cherokee. There are several unfortunate things about the car, but the most important are: 1) it gets about 8 mpg on the highway, and 2) it has started experiencing mechanical failure because of its age…in addition to the fact that he’s had to get towed about 3 times in the last 6 months or so, the power locks on the front doors don’t work, nor does the retractable antennae, and thus, the radio. Remember Eliot Spitzer, the New York governor who got pimped out of office last year for nailing a high priced hooker? Well, he’s back in the news and I tell you, I totally love this guy. Seriously, I do. Why? Because he sits at the intersection of politics, economics, bad relationship decisions, and $1000-an-hour hookers. You can’t beat that.
Spitzer was recently interviewed on CNN’s Fareed Zakaria GPS about everything from the AIG bailout to the screwed up economy to his marriage. The interview is interesting and well worth checking out. Total run time is about 20 minutes:

As I’m sure you’ve all noticed, I’ve been out of the blogosphere a little bit of late. Sorry for sticking you with no one but Lance for so long, but I had some pretty crazy stuff going on. However, for some pretty depressing reasons, I should have plenty of time to blog for the forseeable future! Here’s what’s been going on with me.
The Internet Ate My Homework Post
In my last post, My Boyfriend’s Mother, Me Thinks made the observation that the BF is weird about money, as evidenced by the huge blowout we had over the groceries (see Snowboarding, Sickness, and a Breakdown at the Grocery Store). I have given this idea a lot of thought and even started a blog post about it…a blog post I had nearly finished, but when I hit save, I learned that my computer had disconnected from the internet and the entire thing vanished. This was a 1500 or 2000 word post (and full of pretty insightful shit, if I do say so myself!) so I was extraordinarily bummed to have lost it. Continued
