How Safe is Too Safe? Or, Lance Blows Up Brazen Careerist

So, Lance blew up the comments in the “Ask Penelope Trunk!” chatter section – check it out on Brazen Careerist, and then sign up if you didn’t after reading his review of the updated site.

Similar to dadshouse’s entry on how a woman he met online didn’t want to meet up for a hike on a first date, Lance’s date refused to come over and let him cook dinner for her at his house.  Like DM, Lance is frustrated by the fact that women feel unsafe in their initial encounters, largely because it either leads to “sipping Bud Lights while we stare at each other across tabletops and play word games and play dress up” (Lance) or “coffee dates, those fact-finding information exchanges that modern singles embrace as necessities like college-bound kids taking the SAT” (DM).

Being Tall vs. Great Game? Take the Game.

Penelope Trunk wrote a provocative post today, about how tall people are generally more successful at work and make more money. In her post, she begins by arguing that good looking people do better in life than not-good-looking people. No doubt. You can’t refute that. Midway through her post, though, she switches gears and says that tall people are the folks who are more successful.  She is equating tall people to good looking people. Okay, I guess P-Trunk likes tall dudes.

What’s Wrong with Sleeping Your Way to the Top?

Penelope Trunk wrote a thought provoking post yesterday titled When women get power at work, do they use it like men? In it she described meeting an attractive 25-year-old male who she sleeps with and eventually dates. They are in related fields and, since she is well positioned as a career advice guru, she ponders the ethical implications of helping the guy find a job. Also, there is a bit of an age gap (according to her wiki she is 42 ), so she thinks that may be an issue.

It’s a great post, one that intersects work, love, and life, and it’s well worth reading. I love the post because a) it’s pretty hot, and b) it’s complicated and doesn’t fit into any traditional relationship type. There’s even a smattering of pickup in there for you PUA types.

Here’s my take. Continued

The Weekly: Penelope Trunk Hates Us Edition

Again a bit late with the Weekly but it’s all good my peeps. I was sucking down tequila shots on Friday night and that basically shot me for the rest of the weekend. What else? I’ve been talking online with a nice MILF who is a video game geek, my LDFB is coming down to visit in August, and generally I’ve been enjoying my summer. What, you expected me to invent cold fusion over here?
