Snowboarding, Sickness, and a Breakdown at the Grocery Store

Phew!  One way or the other, I’ve been out of commission as far as the blogging thing goes lately.  This has happened for several reasons:

  1. This is by far the busiest time of year at work,
  2. I ended up having to take time off because I was sicker than I’ve ever been before, and
  3. I took even more time off for a vacation – snowboarding in Flagstaff!

But now I’m back, and in an effort to not think about work when I’m at home (I set my “out of office” at my work Outlook to say that even though I’m in the office, I can’t answer external e-mails until January 15) I’ve decided to rev up my writing again.  It’s about time! Continued

The Nicest Surprise

I came home yesterday to the nicest surprise! It was nice too, after the weekend I’d had. You see, I do the vast majority of the household chores. This is partly because the BF’s job revolves around billable hours so I am home before he does, and partly because as a Virgo (however on the cusp with Leo I am), I have a much lower tolerance for clutter than he does.

A Rough Night

No, not that kind of rough night, though I certainly hoped so at the beginning (and even told Lance that was the plan during an evening IM exchange).  In light of Lance’s awesome video post about how to be a good girlfriend, let’s review the week so far.

Sunday

The BF left his car at a buddy’s place on Friday night because I was the DD, and we go to pick it up Sunday.  We know the battery’s dead but we had no idea how dead.  It took like 20 minutes of charging off my car before the jump took, and then we drove to the nearest auto parts store.  The battery’s only a year old but he doesn’t have his receipt and doesn’t know what store sold it.  We spend a ton of time trying to track this down, he hasn’t eaten and is getting cranky, ends up just buying a new battery where we were and the helpful staff let him change it himself since he’s a dude.  The day is ruined.
