Vacation Planning and Other Updates

Well I don’t know about you all, but this week keeps getting better and better.

State Fair Fun

Saturday we decided to go to the Arizona State Fair.  This was, I think, the third year in a row that we’ve gone, and as usual we had a great time!  We did some of the rides and games, Jake bought me a new semiprecious stone for a metal torque/choker that he’d bought me at the same booth last year (I’m liking this tradition), and – the theme of this year’s fair visit – ate everything in sight.  Yum, food. Life. Just Life.

So, I haven’t posted much this week, but things are swimming along smoothly in Honey-land so there isn’t much to talk about.  Here’s a quick update, though:

Weight Watchers

After losing enough weight to not feel disgusting anymore, I have kind of been slacking and hovering in the very low 130s for awhile.  However, I’m trying to get to the gym more (I think I’ve passed the point where it’s going to drop off simply by eating less, since I can’t eat much less than I have been).  I’ve actually been jogging on the treadmill some in addition to going to yoga and pilates. Revelations Part II: What He Said, and “The Plan”

This is Part II of three.  You can read Part I here.

First of all, on a side note, Lance has demanded that the BF have a name.  Unfortunately, I told the BF he could name himself.  So, his name is Jake.  Honey and Jake…sigh.

Back on topic…much to my delight, this past weekend reaffirmed just how much Jake and I really do get along when he isn’t being taken to the emergency room or drinking himself into a stupor because of work stress.  The best part, however, was what he said on Friday when we were having drinks with his work friend, Dick. Summer Lovin’…or Not

Sorry about the long absence, my peeps!  It was due to a multitude of factors:

  • I went out of town for a few days for some freelance/contract work,
  • When I got back parking & transportation services had moved my car (I was parked on campus) and I (and the police) thought my car was stolen for a horrible, horrible 24 hours,
  • I caught a disgusting cold that laid me up for most of a week (stupid airports/airplanes), and
  • By the time I was better I’d given it to the BF (and we all know sick guys are wussier and take more caring for than sick girls do), and
  • Lance basically hadn’t posted in months and I decided that my responsible and regular posting was only enabling him, so I went on strike to make him post and find out what he was up to.  Hey!  It worked!  You can send your eternal thanks to honey [at] honeyandlance.com ;-)

Every day I have said that I’ll write a post when I get home from work, but pretty much all that was happening was that I was experimenting with different varieties of homemade soup (yesterday I made watermelon gazpacho and it was amazing) so here I am writing away at work.  I’m naughty that way. Good News Follows Good News: Or, LinkedIn Works!?

Apparently the universe is apologizing for my terrible weekend.  First, the BF was able to verify with his supervisor that a) his company isn’t going to do any layoffs, and b) even if they were, his position wouldn’t be in jeopardy.  Awesome!  So he’s going to try for a little work/life balance and we’ll see how that goes.

Second, remember how I’d been trying to decide whether I should go back to school or take on some freelance work?  Well, in this post I mention that I’d decided to go for the school thing, since (as DD tells me repeatedly) it’s a) a kickass opportunity to try something new and different, that is b) also super-cheap.  I applied last week (after the pleasant surprise that employees don’t have to pay application fees) and am admitted – as soon as I can find the time for my previous university to send over my proof of MMR then I’m good to go!

Side note: it’s okay for me to WORK here, directly with the students, with no proof of MMR, but when it comes to taking classes – whoa!  Somebody better make sure that girl had her shots!  Um, what? Continued
