My job interview for the faculty position was Thursday, and while it’s very tough (for me, anyway) to gauge people’s reactions when I can’t see them, I can say that I dropped the names I wanted to drop, mentioned the aspects of my skills I wanted to mention, and we’ll see what happens! When I e-mailed my dissertation chair and told him about the interview, he immediately cleared space in his schedule so we could chat on the phone, nail down my talking points, and practice some questions, and it was definitely a big help.
They say they’ll get back to me in a week or two and let me know if I’m advancing on to the next round or not. I’m solid either way because 1) it was such an unbelievable coup to get interviewed at all that I’m riding high, and 2) if I don’t advance then it means that Jake is free to look for a job out of state in the new year.
