Smart Folks Are Sexy

So last night the BF and I were watching this crazy tv show called Manswers (that’s how bad the summer tv drought is hitting our TiVo), and one of the segments was on what type of women are best in bed. First they polled a bunch of dudes and asked them whether they thought party girls, gymnasts, or smart girls would be best in bed. I was taken aback by the fact that there are, apparently, only 3 types of women (and one of those types is gymnast?!) but surprised and pleased that they at least edited the footage to suggest that there was a three day tie.
The expert sexologist stated that party girls and gymnasts aren’t nearly as good in bed as smart girls (though “college-educated” was their definition of smart and I’ve taught too many courses at the university level to buy that). Woo-hoo, Dateable Dork, Vix, and me are all phenomenal in bed! As if you all didn’t know that. I did think it was funny that the show didn’t mention whether the same was true for fellas (though the BF pointed out that such claims might alienate the majority of the Manswers demographic).
But then I read this article about a dating/social networking site exclusively for smarties that just launched in the UK called IntelligentPeople.com. Now I’ve long believed that the ability to approach relationships from an intellectual standpoint is crucial to their success (pure emotion only gets you so far…maybe 6-8 months in, if you’re lucky…) and I would have killed for something like this when I was on Match.
The idea of a website just for people in the upper 15% of IQs is an interesting one, though you have to wonder whether it’s just an excuse for everyone to act like an asshole and try to one-up the next guy. Unfortunately, I do have to say that the color scheme and utter lack of graphics on all IntelligentPeople’s public pages does seem to suggest that smart people are pretty boring.
I wonder how many people qualify to be on both IntelligentPeople.com and BeautifulPeople.net? Like BeautifulPeople, there is a test to gain entry to IntelligentPeople–an IQ test, in fact, complete with an activation code that expires after two attempts. I find the idea of all these niche dating sites interesting, as I never ventured much beyond the one-size-fits-all sites like Match and MySpace. Anyone ever been a member of a niche dating site? How is it different?
Yeah, I just took the IQ test on the website and got canned on it. It’s hard as hell. Have fun with that one. Oh yeah, I bet there are ton of hot chicks on there.
I didn’t pass either. Hmm… either those are some really intelligent people, or I’m not as smart as I thought.

I don’t really see what this article has to do with my point. While the article concludes that the majority of highly intelligent people lose their virginity later, have fewer sexual partners, and have lower libidos, none of those things has anything to do with the quality of sex that those people have.

Wow this article seems to be a lot of B.S. (and I don’t mean bachelors of science). How can anyone possibly compare statistics between MIT and Wellesley? Especially by majors? Wellesley is a women’s liberal arts college with mostly humanities and some science majors, while MIT has only something like 20 majors, most of which are engineering. And only 1/3 of MIT’s grad students are female. Comparing the two colleges seems a bit ridiculous.

N just because i suck at IQ test doesn’t mean that I’m stupid. It just means that i wasn’t listening in maths or english. lol

I NEVER get IQ tests right. But this time, I kind of concentrated on it and really thought I could do it. Or was this one just really easy, Honey?
And something else - does this site cost anything? I suppose so?
I didn’t think it was too bad. The BF passed it, too. Membership is free but there aren’t too many people on the site (which makes sense both because the company is kinda new and supposedly only 15% of the population is even eligible to join). I set up a minimum profile but can’t imagine what I’d use it for.

Thank you for that link. I thought I would pass the test because I have a good IQ, but I did not. I’ll have to try again. Despite what they say, tests such as this can be studied for.
