Own What Goes On Between Your Ears

Since this is the month of inspiration at H&L, here is a most excellent quote by Gandhi:

Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.

I was watching video from a motivational speaker on positive self-talk and leadership when I came across it. A good way to approach life, and it all starts between the ears and in your heart.

I made a big switch this year when I did a marathon and started controlling my thoughts and switching them from negative to purposely positive. Going from “this sucks” to “I’m pumped up to be here, I can do this.” I started practicing this regularly in my athletic life and saw my performances shoot through the roof. Now I own what goes on in my head.

Believe that you can finish the task, finish the project, believe that you’re a good and worthy person at your core, and believe that you’re deserving of success in every which way possible. Believe that you can love and have great relationships. Think it, speak it, be positive, then do it over and over. Make it something you value. Eventually it becomes your reality.

Something else that I would add to this is actually visualizing yourself finishing / being awesome / etc. It’s something I read from Paul Mckenna. It has really worked for me. Great quote BTW, might steal it for our ‘motivational quotes’ series :-).

Preston, go for it, it’s the best quote I’ve seen this year and I’d like to share it far and wide.

Was gonna steal it any ways but cheers ;-).

I will definitely drop you a mention for the great find.

It sounds so simple. I have tried and got a lot of people following me around. Problem is, sometimes people find me annoying and cocky. Doesn’t matter though, because I feel great. Hope you can share more about this topic Lance.
