So a week ago today I had my wisdom teeth removed (yes, all 4!) which is why I didn’t write (well, that and the holiday). For those of you who think I’m crazy for getting it done over the Thanksgiving break, I had two good reasons:
- I only had to take 2 days off work…then we got 2 days for Thanksgiving and then 2 days for the weekend. 6 days off for the price of 2, leaving me to use my sick/vacation days for something a little more fun,
- We weren’t going to visit family or friends for the holiday (we kind of like to do Thanksgiving just the two of us)
I haven’t really been sick or incapacitated since the BF and I started dating, so this was kind of a new one for me. I had also
not been under general anesthesia since I can remember so I was super afraid that I’d do or say something stupid. But, I didn’t do anything super stupid and having the BF take care of me was great! He took care of my gauze on the first day and also tracked when I took all the pills.
In return, I ended up giving him all my percocet because apparently it makes me really sick and unable to sleep…after 30+ hours of not sleeping after the surgery I had to call my oral surgeon and get vicodin (a really frustrating experience because my doctor basically accused me of being a drug addict over the phone and I had to start crying, literally, before he’d give me the prescription I wanted).
The BF did all the cooking for our Thanksgiving feast (a Quorn roast since we are vegetarian along with Tofurkey giblet gravy and some of the more traditional side dishes) and it was nice to just hang out with him for 5 of my 6 days off. We did go out a couple of times–drinks with some friends on Friday night and some light Christmas shopping and lunch on Sunday, but mostly I was too miserable and/or high on painkillers to go anywhere so we enjoyed our Roku and had lots of sex.
The sex was actually kind of interesting because a) the cocktail of prescriptions I was on had me very dehydrated so we had to keep using Wet in order to have sex at all, and b) because antibiotics can interfere with the birth control pill and we didn’t want to use a condom, he had to pull out EVERY TIME and come on my stomach (or back/butt). But this was kind of something different from how our sex life is usually so it was kind of exciting…now he can’t wait for me to have my follow-up (a week from today) so I can give him head again. We’re both excited for that!
Aside from a huge fight (well, huge by our standards…by most people’s it probably wasn’t much) in the last month and a half or two months we’re more solid than we’ve ever been. So, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I’d like to say I’m thankful for him!
