I found my Match.com contracting gig through LinkedIn, so after much skepticism, I’m a believer, too.

Yeah, definitely get rid of some debt but treat yourself to something nice. A year of yoga? Sounds good to me…

@ dadshouse – yeah, I’m glad I updated mine when we didn’t know if we were going to have layoffs in our department. Hooray for forward-thinking!

@ Janak – the current plan is to put $1500 towards credit cards, $500 in my ING savings account as a tax hedge/emergency fund, and $500 toward “splurges” – our DVD player is on the way out and we want to upgrade to the PS3 because it plays blue rays. And then I can probably join a yoga gym for a month and see if I like it and will even go.

Yes, I keep thinking – I could pay my credit card off entirely in a year if I put it ALL toward that! Plus, as you say, minimize my monthly payment enough that I could probably just work the yoga into my normal budget. Tough choices…

Though they lack the security of full time jobs (no benefits, guaranteed pay, etc), there’s nothing like scoring a good freelance job. Better yet, one that pays several months of bills and you can sleep in for a while

Just me, but I would pay the credit card due to finance charges. On the other hand, it’s important to have a security blanket too. I paid $3000 on my credit card only to lose my job a few weeks later. Sucks, but on the other hand it brought my minimum payments considerably down too, which greatly helps.
