Wedding Planning

Hi, everyone!  Just wanted to touch base and let you know that a) everything’s going great, and b) predictably, wedding planning is slowly becoming the center of my life.  Fortunately, however, Jake is Pandora Charms Canada MUCH more into the wedding than I am, so my primary jobs have actually been to be a receptive audience to the HOURS of online research that he puts into every decision, and to rein him in whenever he starts going overboard (which is pretty often).  So far, we have decided:

  • We’re getting married on a cruise ship before embarkation, then everyone can join us on the cruise or leave before we do.  This means that the reception is cake-and-punch and that we’ve already booked the honeymoon as well.  Very exciting, and cheaper than just the traditional ceremony/reception packages that we priced.
  • We will register for a select few items (which will need to be shipped to our house so we don’t pay duty on them) but our primary goal is going to be a down payment fund. Continued

Honey: I’m Engaged!

Thought that since I’d shared so much of my journey with Jake with all of you, I’d share this as well!  Jake and I got engaged on Friday, March 18.  I kind of knew it was coming but I’d been wrong a few times before so I was trying not to get too excited.  But now I’m thrilled!

It started when he planned a trip to Rocky Point, Mexico for us.  We drove down on Wednesday (about a 4.5 hour drive) and came back on Sunday.  We stayed at a resort called the Sonoran Sun (picture after the jump): Continued

All Good Things

Things have been awesome at the Honey/Jake homestead lately.  He is jobsearching in Phoenix, so his employment situation may change for the better (and, as anticipated, the mere act of looking has cheered him up immensely).  I love my job, and my job loves me – I had my annual performance evaluation which went great, and I am getting a bunch of new equipment for my office.  The ergonomic keyboard and footrest arrived today and I am getting a new keyboard tray in the next few weeks as well as a new computer and monitor.  I was skeptical about the footrest but can already tell it’s going to be fantastic, although in the meantime it does highlight just how awful my current keyboard tray and mouse placement is. How Likely Are You To Get Divorced?

I was checking out this article online the other day, and thought that some of their statistics are interesting.

Some of their statistics could use some tweaking, though – what if you are liberals living in a red state?  What if you do not have children?  What if the guy is a serial cohabiter and the girl is not?  What if one or both partners is bringing children from a previous relationship into the mix?  I am also pretty sure that things like age at marriage and the presence of advanced degrees have a huge impact on how likely you are to get divorced.

Anniversary Dinner…and…

Jake and I had an awesome anniversary dinner – the food was amazing, as was the ambiance of the restaurant (and the drinks!  I had something called a Sunshine Sour made with grapefruit vodka, orange juice, and lemon juice, that was out of this world).

During dinner, Jake and I were talking about wedding locations.  Then we were talking about rings, because Jake realized he had never worked that into his wedding timeline.  Continued

The Best Article On Marriage Ever, From The Times

I’m not sold on this whole marriage idea, but I could see myself getting married if I ever decide to shed my pimp status. I guess. Anyway, I found this awesome article in the New York Times about a 30-something couple in California who go to marriage counseling and embark on the project of improving their relationship. It’s the best damn article on marriage I’ve ever read. Continued
