Takeways from Vegetarian and No-Alcohol Experiments

Argh! I’ve had the worst writer’s block for the last two weeks. The reason: Megan and I broke up for real and it’s f’ed up my creative process. Much more to that story…I’ll try to cover in other posts.

To bust the writing slump, I thought I’d write an easy post about the conclusion of two recent personal projects, namely, how I went vegetarian for a month and how I stopped drinking for 2.5 months.

Vegetarian Update: Hallucinations, Blindness, Loss of MoTOr COntr0L

Ahhhh! This whole vegetarian experiment is just making me angry!! This is by far the hardest month-long experiment I’ve ever done, much harder than when I quit drinking or abstained from sex. Oops, wasn’t supposed to mention that last part.

National Justice for Animals Week

A second brief tangent from sex and relationships, though I promise to post on my Valentine’s Day as well!

February 22-28 marks the Animal Legal Defense Fund’s first-ever National Justice for Animals Week, to raise awareness for those who are abused and neglected but can’t speak for themselves.  Check out ALDF’s website for more information and activities being held around the country on this issue as well as updates on the good work that ALDF does on behalf of abused and neglected animals.

10 Twitter Hotties You Should Follow

Inspired by this post about sexy twitterers at the Ms. Single Mama blog, I decided to put together a list of my favorite Twitter hotties. I nosed around and found 10 hot chicks well worth following.

My Boyfriend’s Mother

Since the BF grew up here in Phoenix, his immediate family (mom, dad, and brother) still live here.  While he has only had to go through the ordeal of flying to my hometown and meeting my dad once, I have had to hang out with his family on numerous occasions (both holiday and casual).  While I think that I have done a decent job of, well, being a decent human being that any family would be proud to have included in such occasions, this is not a “how to” post, but a far more interesting and gossipy one. If You Think You Have A UTI, Go To the Doctor!

So, this post will be brief and explain my (regretable, I’m sure you all agree) absence from the blogosphere of late.  Remember last week, when I thought I had a UTI and then offered home remedies on how to fix it?

Well, no dice.

It went underground and resurfaced that Friday in the form of lower back pain, which I thought was weird but which went away after about an hour.  Then Saturday it was back…all weekend.  I didn’t want to go to the ER, so I waited until Monday and went to the doctor.

I have a kidney infection.  I feel awful.  I’ve missed the last two days of work, but not in a fun, pre-Christmas, let’s party way – in a don’t eat anything, moan on the couch way.  I am on antibiotics and some other things for the symptoms now, but I still feel it quite a bit.  I tried to eat twice yesterday and couldn’t, so today I settled for some chocolate soymilk.

Ugh.  I should’ve just gone to the doctor…
