gives 5000 Fatties the Boot

I love it., the site that only lets in hotties, has supposedly given 5000 members the boot for putting on too much weight over the holidays. It did this by reviewing new pictures that members had uploaded. Sounds like a big PR stunt to me…who uploads pictures of themselves looking that much fatter to an online dating site?

Money quote from site founder Robert Hintze:

“Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which was founded.”

You can read Honey’s post on Dating Beautiful where she first reported on the site. Apparently, to get in, you submit a picture and profile of yourself and other members vote on it. If you’re hot enough, you’re in. Not looking your best? You’ll be slumming it on with the rest of the fatties!! I haven’t tried to weasel my way in to see what the hubbub is about but I may get it a shot.

Has anyone been on this site? Is it worth a crap? If you’ve been kicked off, I’d love to get a copy of that email giving you the boot!!

HAHA!! I tried Darwin Dating once, just to see what was in there. Slightly disappointed to say the least! haha. I signed up to BP now for the same ‘curiousity will kill the cat’ reason and was met with a page stating that their servers were overloaded thanks to all the media attention their getting and they’ll let me know when I can access it again.

lemme know how your experience goes.

Indeed, Darwin Dating sucks. I got in, but there were like seven-ten profile in this state total. The site is butt-ugly too (oh the irony), but I’ve never heard of this BP site, looks nicely designed.

Yeah man, gotta agree…that fatty boot sounds like a clever publicity stunt to me. People post thinner photos of themselves, usually not the other way around.

  • Hammer

I’m a member bro, but I haven’t really tried anything on it. The membership is pretty slim, it’s certainly no match or PoF or OkCupid.

Guess you wouldn’t have gotten the boot for being too fat 😉

  • dadshouse

And they say beauty is more than skin deep… Ha. This is too funny. And I’m guessing it’s a PR stunt. I wonder if they even have 5000 members.

I haven’t been on the site either, since I think it was created after I met Jake, but since the acceptance rate is so low I can’t imagine it’s got lots of people on there.

That seems depressing to me – “Oh, now I’ve been on dates with the 5 people in my city who are as gorgeous as me, and it didn’t work out with any of them because our personalities were incompatible, but now I’m stuck with the knowledge that all the single people who are left in my city are (comparatively) ugly.”

Plus being gorgeous doesn’t guarantee that you are intelligent or possess a good character, which are both more important to me anyway.

@Honey: BeautifulPeople sounds like a total gimmick. Folks will check it out because it’s different, but ultimately their own standards will work against them. Look at Hammer’s comment…he lives in NEW YORK and there’s no one to date. The principle that underpins online dating is quantity…people want the ability to shop far and wide.

  • Jack

Like I really believe that the site is populated by beautiful people. Half the photos uploaded there are fakes.

HAHA thats classic if true – then those people deserve it!

I’m a member of BP, and I must say this is one of the worst dating sites I’ve been to…I prefer the layout of OKCupid 1000x better…Most people on BP have no personality, maybe because they’ve never developed one due to relying on their looks?? And, for the record, BP should not be boasting about all of their quote-unquote beautiful-people…They may be attractive, but they’re no supermodels…Just regular, and especially boring people…Guess I should try another site or just stick to meeting men the old-fashioned way….i.e. before the 21st century and the computer-revolution

Sounds like a gimmic. Pof and OkCupid are the best I have experienced. Ill try and check this site out…if they think I am cute enough (who is the judge of that I wonder) and review it.
