All Good Things

Things have been awesome at the Honey/Jake homestead lately.  He is jobsearching in Phoenix, so his employment situation may change for the better (and, as anticipated, the mere act of looking has cheered him up immensely).  I love my job, and my job loves me – I had my annual performance evaluation which went great, and I am getting a bunch of new equipment for my office.  The ergonomic keyboard and footrest arrived today and I am getting a new keyboard tray in the next few weeks as well as a new computer and monitor.  I was skeptical about the footrest but can already tell it’s going to be fantastic, although in the meantime it does highlight just how awful my current keyboard tray and mouse placement is.

Summer is also really slow at work because most of the faculty and students are gone, so I have been averaging one day off a week.  I mostly can’t take days during the regular semester, so I have plenty saved up.  Jake’s friend Dick and I have become really close friends and have been working our way through Buffy the Vampire Slayer – we are almost halfway through season 7.  Then we are going to do True Blood and Firefly and see where we go from there.  Apparently once you’re a working adult it takes 2 years in a new city to really build up a decent social life, but it’s finally happened and I’m thrilled.

Jake and I are eagerly awaiting our trip to London in mid/late July – it will be quite nice to get away from the heat.  We are eating at Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s while we are there, and so are looking forward to an amazing dinner (the last time we ate at a Ramsay restaurant it was over $300 for the two of us, and this place is similarly priced, but we are sure the food will be incredible).  A very romantic spot for two people who have recently been discussing engagement rings, don’t you think?

And on that note I have an announcement.

My life is incredibly busy and about to get busier – true, I don’t know when the proposal will come, but Jake and I have set the date and are actively starting to wedding plan.  I have a sneaky feeling that I’m mostly going to want to blog about the wedding, and

  1. I’m not sure that everyone who reads this blog is interested in that, and
  2. I want to blog about my wedding under my own name, with my friends and family as my primary readers.

For that reason, I’m going to be stepping down from this blog within the next month.  It’s been a fantastic run and I’ve enjoyed being a part of this community, but my schedule’s become more and more cramped and something just has to get cut.  I’m hoping that Lance will be cool with me stopping by to throw out a quick update once in awhile (I certainly want to tell you guys about the proposal when it happens!), but I’m not going to be around regularly.

What’s going to happen to the site?  Well, to find out you’re going to have to ask Lance!  I am not sure what his plans are – but I’m sure he’ll be spectacular!

If you are interested in continuing to follow a PG-rated blog about me (where I blog about lots of things in addition to my relationship with the fabulous, fantastic Jake), shoot me an email and maybe, if you’re lucky, I’ll give you the URL to my personal blog :-)

All best, Honey
