So I discovered this really cool t-shirt company called Reflect from a twitter friend. Hat tip to @stevepavlina who blogged about receiving one of these shirts in his excellent post, how to create real value. Note, I’m not an affiliate of Reflect and I’m not getting anything to write this post.
The concept is simple. The shirts are plain, black tees with an affirmation printed on them in reverse…in other words, if you stand in front of a mirror, the affirmation reads normally. And that’s basically it. I imagine, because the phrases are in reverse, people ask about what it actually says, which is kind of a clever marketing ploy and a nice way to create an opener with strangers.

We’ve all been there, haven’t we ladies? Itchy, discharge-y….that’s right, the yeast infection. As most of you know, I recently had my wisdom teeth removed, and one of the zillions of prescriptions they put me on was antibiotics. Now, I don’t like antibiotics for several reasons:
- They make me feel like crap (hello, it’s ultimately all about me),
- They don’t kill a lot of things and create SuperBugs,
- They tend to give me yeast infections (didn’t I just say it’s all about me?).

Having good game saved me $112 this weekend. Here’s what happened:
I flew into a city in the Northeast for a conference. I was traveling with two co-workers (female). Seated across the aisle from me, on the plane, was a guy wearing a New York Jets hat. We started chatting about NY football teams and the NFL in general, and our conversation meandered to across different topics. Eventually, my two co-workers jumped into the convo.

(Gemma Atkinson…Sweet Jesus!)
This post was inspired after reading Three Great Places to Meet Women on the Dad’s House blog. DM suggested three places that are, on paper, supposed to be goldmines for meeting singles (especially for guys): yoga, cooking class, and wine tasting class. He goes on to say that he struck out at all three times.

If you’re into pickup like me, you’ll see lists of the top 10 pickup artists of the year floating around the various blogs. You can see two such lists here and here. These are usually pretty popular, and often times controversial.
This post isn’t one of those lists. I’m not interested in who is a pickup machine and who can get the most lays. I am interested in attraction and social artistry, though, and I try to keep up with the latest ideas coming out of the pickup/dating/relationships niche. There needs to be more information (and innovation) about how to socialize and be attractive, because most people are terrible at both of those things. It’s also been my experience that conventional wisdom, ie the stuff you read on mainstream sites, is way off the mark from what’s actually happening during real life interactions.
What I want to know is, who is coming up with fresh ideas about dating and relationships? Who’s changing the way we think about attraction? Who are the thought leaders and innovators out there in this crazy little niche?

So a week ago today I had my wisdom teeth removed (yes, all 4!) which is why I didn’t write (well, that and the holiday). For those of you who think I’m crazy for getting it done over the Thanksgiving break, I had two good reasons:
- I only had to take 2 days off work…then we got 2 days for Thanksgiving and then 2 days for the weekend. 6 days off for the price of 2, leaving me to use my sick/vacation days for something a little more fun,
- We weren’t going to visit family or friends for the holiday (we kind of like to do Thanksgiving just the two of us)
